Default new focus st 220 bhp

i thought share it with you lot

and the specs

220 bhp
18 inch rims
5 cilinder engine (volvo s40 ,V50 T5)
2,5 liter Turbo charged (what kind of torque will this deliver after a few tweaks )

and a 6 speed gearbox

that should be enough to slay the competition

That's gorgeous.... I really do like that, and it's turbo'd so should be a good tuneable engine!

The Volvo 5 cyl is the old 4cyl with an extra cylinder...4 valves per cyl however. Been using them since the Volvo 850

Love the interior but the outside?! Chrome trim?! On a sporty model?! Reminds me of an Escort 1.6 Ghia!

Sounds like Ford are finally getting they're act together...can't wait for the RS. Not keen on the X5 wheels but otherwise it looks pretty decent!!

So is this for real, or is it another concept like the awesome Fiesta RS that never happened sadly

Looks good though, and the tuning potential of a 2.5 turbo has got to be massive!!!

These pics are good - the best i've seen posted on the net - but the chrome/ally trim may not make it onto the final model - the same way it was removed from the Fiesta ST when early pics showed it. As said by MattRS1600i, Ford have made no secret that the car will be shown in Geneva shortly, and will be released the first quarter of 2006. Once released, concentrations will divert onto the RS

Matt is also correct about the Fiesta RS - it is not officially cancelled, although things don't look too great at the mo. Work still takes place on the project however, and it's likely to be shown in a slightly different form to what everyone is used to either at Geneva, or another major show.

am i the only 1 who thinks it looks bloody awful i hate the shape of the new focus , just looks like a mondeo that's had a run in with peugeots indian elephant the wheels i'm sure i have seen on a vauxhall and the interior is just feckin awful. it is just so bland and if i were looking at buying a new car like that i'd choose the new golf gti.

Don't like that colour at all.

Don't like the backend.

And those front Recaro's look like standard seats retrimmed and a Recaro logo stiched into them.

Nice engine mind.

The 5cyl Volvo engine was a BRAND new design when it was introduced in the 850. It was one of the first mass production engines to have a engine block from aluminium(or at least something like the only engine in it's segment to be solely made of aluminium or something... The Rover V8, which was based on the Buick 215 V8 from the '60ies, was also an all aluminium engine).

The Volvo 5 cyl engine has nothing whatsoever to do with the Audi engine, or the old 4 cyl Volvo engines for that matter. The newer Volvo 4 cyl engines might be deratives of the 5 cyl Volvo, but it was the 5cyl engine that was first.

I think you will find that this is a engine with a lot of potential for tuning and big BHP/torque numbers.

Dont like colour, chrome bits on outside (take em off Mr F ORD!) and alloys are terrible, but then again there is always aftermarket, but for a new car for me it would need to be perfect, and at this stage this ST isnt for me. Wait for the RS i think, anyone any ideas when this may be 2007?

Actually...it was derived from the 6cyl which was all aluminum and predates the 850 and it's 5 cyl. The headwork apparently was secretly Porsche-engineered.

"It's derived from the 960's all-aluminum, 2.9-liter inline-6"...
auto.consumerguide.com/auto/ used/reviews/full/index.cfm/id/2114

http://www3.bc.sympatico.ca/Volvo_Bo...#anchor1551107

So sorry - it wasn't the old 4cyl with an extra cylinder but rather the old inline six with a cylinder TAKEN OFF!!

Wow, nice block design, thats got to be one of the most rigid bearing tunnels ever made, sod doing what most companies do and have a poxy little girdle to add strength, just cast the whole lot as one chunk.

Fantastic stuff, certainly going to have huge power potential i should think from looking at that.
