after pissing about with this pissy air con pump malarky since february, i've finally got the fucker off
yay me

now i've just got to put the car back together again

the cheapest quote i got to fix the problem was £350 with the car being away for at least a week so i thought fuck that shit i'll do it myself
word to the wise, let soemone else fix it, after seeing the state that just a tensionor can cause peole to get to on a mk3 mondeo, it's one of those thigns that i can't be arsed with any more
solid day on it yesterday taking everything apart, 4 hours today just to get a poxy circlip out of the engine bay, and now fuck knows how long to put it back together again as all the bits are in bits and all the bits that need to go back together again are scattered all over the car, under the car, in the seats, in the hallway and in the living room

well, the good news is that the old one came off
the bad news is that the new one now won't go on
and yes, now i know how to do it, i won't spend so much time on it again, but it's something that i don't think is going to fuck up again
but if i did it's easier to simply drain the ac system and remove the pump from underneath (once you've figured out how to get the fans out, because that means stripping out all sorts of shit
) and job jobbed in about an hour
