The whole "its mint" and "its concours" gets on my tits, someone said to me that my S1 was gonna be concours because its had the underside painted, WTF? I could never be concours because its had most of the floor replaced.
As for the term "mint" the car should need no work doing to it, none of this "its got a few little chips here and there and needs a good clean inside!!"
It aint foooookin mint then is it

Testing the future
it should only be for perfect things, as new or better.
but you get a lot of mongs out there whose perception of mint is a lot different. they're the sort of people who do a job and it's a bodge but they just can't see it.

cheers for reminding me of that rich
awaiting you getting the video from nathan and posting that now
mint should be as or nearly as new imo but different people do class it differently
genuine concours cars are usually mint imo but how often do you see an ad in the trader saying concours trophy winner and they have never been seen before

PassionFord Post Whore!!
I'd say Concours is above mint in my opinion.
For mint I'd expect:
Unmarked bodywork, no rust, dents or chips
Unmarked interior and trim
Unmarked wheels
All electrics etc working, no missing switches
Clean underside and underbonnet (But not concours clean!)
FSH
I'd say over 90% of cars that claim to be mint are not.

Mint should be "As New", but it's right to say its used too much -
I went to see an '87 Capri 2.8i in Colchester that was "Mint". It also had, I quote, "No rust" and the interior was "as new".
When I pointed out Rust, plus a welded plate on the sill, a dirty interior and overspray on the roof, the owner looked insulted and replied "What do you expect for car of this age?".

Its good to see your all agreeing then.
We travelled up to Scotland a few weeks ago to look at a 60K minter.
I never ever used my fist against any one. But this bloke nearly got a smack.
We had around 20 emails containing different pics all looked good.
Service history scanned.
HPI Showed nothing.
So one weeked we took a drive up their in my friends "Banger" a Diesil 205 (Nice)
The car was a right
GUMPER.
The VIN plate on the bonnet had been grinded and a poor attempt to restamp one.
Lower and upper colours did not match.
Their was a paint line on the crease which your could cut your finger on.
I was so angry and the car was not even for me.
So Mint aint a favorite word of mine.

As a former collector of Dinky Toys ' Mint & boxed' meant Toy & Box was as new with no marks or fade & very few were at that level.
Have seen a couple of RS's at this level but only a couple.
Once bought some door cards described on the phone as totally mint.
When they arrived at best they were shite & 10 times worse than my slightly faded ones, peoples idea of mint vary. I did eventually get a set very close to orginal condition but not mint.
