Just to add to the debate, there were actually 3 versions of the BBS centrelocks, all slightly different as they evolved over the years that they raced, so these cars would have changed from race to race anyway.
I love them, as do lots of other people, and the cars a stunner. Pauls gone down the sensible route of using these more durable alloy copies than the BBS mag ones.
If he had planned to make a copy of the original car he would have used the Simmons wheels that the Caltex ran, as they never used the BBS ones in period anyway.

No where near as nice as the BBS style are they, but all the aussie cars used local rims in the end as the BBS ones were to expensive to import into the country.
I never liked the Simmons, makes the centre look to small when on the car, much nicer look to it when fitted with the BBS type

Thats probably the last group A full fat RS500 built, it only ever ran in the 91 season and all the other cars that year were updated older versions, all other countries were running the shopping car 2 litre formula in 91 so any 500s entered elesewhere were heavily restricted.
I understand the resto is now finished and its about to run again in Aus.
I think I have a few more pics, will hunt through my hard drive and post any I can find.

somewhere along the way, chip will convince everyone he's right and the rest of us were wrong
but it will be about something totally different to the original point that was being argued about
i'll get my protractor out to work out which tangent this thread will veer off on and we will then ALL be right and group hug

Funny what is classed as a replica
I never built the car to be a replica , I actually built the car to the spec I wanted and what my budget would allow , if i wanted an exact replica things would have been totaly different
The fact it ended up in the Caltex colours is nothing other than the fact i liked the scheme so went with it
For some reason a few people think that by calling somthing a replica they are actually either trying to knock the car or get a reaction from the owner , or they are just jelious they dont own somthing as nice
I will have a think what catagory i will put you in as so far its all of them

Same with my car mate, 1600 shell, which as you are aware has NO differences to the RS500 shell it used to be (other than the minor changes like a cut battery tray which tickford did aftermarket anyway) and people think it should be a badge of shame its a replica.
But if you look at the fast ford feature, I insisted they refer to it as a replica on the front cover, so it shows how little it bothers me

Sorry Chip but a gen cosworth / rs500 shell is NOT the same as a 1.6 shell , there are quite a few differences
