i shall now officially be bringing the fiesta as the mondeo has eaten my finger so fuck fixing that shit and my mate hasn't got back to me about his 3 door (and also because he's in scotland at the mo) and the transit won't do and neither will the connect
Why are BBQ's banned? So they can shaft you over the price of food on sight?
basicly yes
from what i understand, the traders pay a lot for their pitches and therefore want a return on their investment and so charge Ł5+ for a basic burger and Ł1 for a slice of cheese and Ł2.50 for a can of coke and stuff
if the show organisers and silverstone put their heads together they would have simply lowered their prices for the pitches and put a decently priced menu across the board
last year the guy at the gate was half the price of the people the other side of the bridge and he was doing a roaring trade from the people who were walking through the gate
obviously this is all based on me going there for the past several years so it's only what i've found out from myself and not what an official statement would read
Just to clarify - The price of the food, nor the banning of BBQs is anything to do with Future Publishing. They are the 'rules' laid down by Silverstone, and are the same for any event held there.
Believe me, we've tried to get them to be more reasonable when it comes to food prices. They charge a catering company a lot of cash to have their 'vans' on site, and in turn the van owners charge a shit load.
It would be funny if, for one year, everyone took their own food and completely boycotted the extortionate burger prices! Sadly that won't happen.
I have seen sensible 'well managed' BBQs at Silverstone before and no one's batted an eyelid - it's the big 'smokers' that cause issues!
