It's utter shite. Bernie wanted it on F 2 A TV and now he's gone against that. I won't get Sky as I think their coverage is utter shite. The build up bollocks etc, the BBC is more restrained, but its more professional and less cartoonish.
I would much rather pay an extra £50 a year on my TV licence for the BBC to spend on sports rather than give over £700 a year to that Murdoch empire building bunch of unethical cunts!!!
I'll stream the bugger from Justin TV !!

Don't think I'd be paying out for Sky Sports just to watch F1. You have to pay for the package to begin with, then pay extra for the sports channels, and then sit through adverts as well as that. As well as still paying a TV licence...
I think it's going to seriously hurt viewing figures in this country myself. But FOM don't give a fuck, as they're happily sucking up to all the rich fuckers in the middle east!

Not great news really, I have sky but don't have the sports package as I only really watch Motorsport which is covered well enough on the other channels.
I personally think the BBC coverage is excellent and I can't imagine sky doing a better job, plus you then have the adverts to deal with

YES why can't the BBC get rid of all the other crap that's on tv and put the money in to it they could save loads of money why do they need all the men in football studio saying if they did this and that it's not going to make any difference to the game or all the crap soaps on there too god

I like the BBC coverage and I think Jake is ok, in fact all the team from BBC is very good, but I have hate days with Eddie.
I think Sky will turn it to like a NAS car event, chuck in adverts = SHIT.
Chop,
its not the money, well it is......., I don't have the need to watch anything on sky sports, why would I spend another £10 notes a month, to add sky sports to my Virgin package for 10 races, just not value for money.
also i am not going to put any money into News International pocket.

This page is getting a few likes! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Keep-...49121281832578 there seem to be a lot of unhappy F1 fans today. People are also emailing the woman at the BBC that is responsible for the decision barbara.slater@bbc.co.uk

Forgot about the adverts. Pain in the arse when it used to be on ITV. Really disappointed about this I refuse to pay an extra £20 on my Sky Subscription for about 3 football matches and a couple of races

Just listened to the head of BBC sport on R5. All the races will be on the beeb, half being highlight shows. She made a good point that some GP will be in a better viewing slot (like the 6am start ones will be shown prime time Sunday instead) and what with some GP being totally boring, a highlights show might be better for some of them anyway.
It also guarantees the beeb have rights to F1 for the next 7 years: better than loosing it altogether to Sky.

if it was on sky then it wouldn't be so bad, but it's on sky sports, which you have to pay extra for, and the hd bit is an extra bit on top of that, so you have to ask yourself if it's worth the extra £20 a month to watch the grand prix if you don't already have it

I certainly won't be paying for Sky just to watch F1, so it's unlikely I'll bother to follow it. I have considered Sky so I can watch some of the lower level motorsport they feature on their basic channels, but I certainly won't pay out a load of money to watch F1, when I wouldn't be watching anything else on the sport channels.
If they want to sacrifice sport, they should have dropped MotoGP to help keep the F1. F1 gets far bigger viewing figures so should have been a higher priority.

I'm wondering if any of you haters have actually spent any time watching Sky Sports before?
Their coverage is fantastic and they'll move the game on. They will be showing all the practice sessions and will have better access to the teams.
The way I understand it is that BBC have an exclusive contract for the F1 but they've decided to bail out to save some money. Don't think it's case of Sky out bidding them.
I think the real question here is the BBC license fee. Are we really getting value for money? They seem to waste money on websites, I player, and all that other shit. Wish they'd just advertise and be done with it.
