Default had a close call in the cossy..almost meltdown

went away in my saff last weekend and when i was joining the motorway the turbo sounded strange, i have heard the noise before, sounded like a pipe had come off the inlet somewhere, pulled up and checked, everything fine????
carried on taking it steady and engine started running hot..very hot..pulled up checked, fans ok etc..now imconfused..carried on..getting very hot again within 5 miles..pulled off the motorway and carried on journey along the A roads. engine fine even in traffic ,running cool...

any way when i got home checked engine ends up my fuel pressure regulator had split inside or something and was leaking boost pressure to atmosphere and not enabling enough fuel pressure, the overheating was because the engine was running lean as fook

close call only just rebuilt it too

At least you found the fault. The car could of ended up a lot worse off.

As said you had a lucky escape there, at least you went sensible when the trouble started that is most likely what saved your engine, off boost the meltdown can't occur really.
