private reg question

i have a pvt reg which begins " P77"

my question is can i put this on a car older than a p reg? or does it have to be post P reg?

No it has to go on a P reg car or newer , you cannot put a plate on a car older then P reg to make it look newer than it actually is.

It has to go on a newer car, it will look older then which is ok.

No, cos that would make it look 4 years newer. As Lambchop said, you can't make the car look newer.
