hi was just wondering how far away can u get with the key out of the car with it running does it cut of etc just little paranoid (focus st2 08)

I tought the key had to be within a certain range of the car.

It does cut out, you have to have the key with you when you drive. Get in the car and start it then walk away with the key in your pocket. You will not get far before it cuts out.

Very unlikely, if you walked away from the car with the engine still running a thief could jump in and drive off.

My Son had a Megane with keyless / card start.
If you left the card away from the car and tried to drive off, the engine cut out as soon as you touched the throttle.
