long story cut short here, i've got a tomtom one xl, 2 or 3 years old now, very out of date map on it and it seems the memory card is starting to fault as it keeps throwing up errors from time to time. now i have access to a bang up to date memory card from a new tomtom, can i just stick that memory card in my sat nav and off i go with new maps etc or is there more to it?

It should work, but tomtom have a thing on their site that only allows you to register one unit to their system every six months so that's your only pitfall if the other card doesn't register.
I've found that the tomtom stuff is great when it's working but when it starts to go tits up you should really think about getting a new unit but if the card is the fault then it's a simple fix![Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
just don't plug it into the computer
