Boxster missfiring, stops when i clear the code??
I'm asking on here as you guys are better than the boxster forum for knowledge on ecu's and many of you specialise in tuning etc.
The car has been miss firing on cylinder 4 and sometimes 6.
I have changed the coilpacks around so cylinder 4 is now running a pack from cylinder 2 same idea with cylinder 6
Put new plugs in.
Changed the injectors around like the coil packs.
Did a compression test
Took the inlet manifold off, cleaned and sealed back down.
I have a diagnostics reader telling me which cylinders are missfiring, tonight it said cylinder 4 after I had done 25 trouble free miles since I did the above, then as soon as left work it started.
MAIN QUESTION........
When it started missfiring, i kept it running, found it was cylinder 4, cleared the code and as soon as I pressed clear the missfire instantly stoped and the car was fine all the way home.
Why would the missfire go when I simply clear a code -- ecu knackered??
Thank you guys

PassionFord Post Whore!!
like as if for some reason the car was in limp home mode and maybe the ECU decided to stop the delivery of power it would give a misfire??
By clearing the fault, the ECU thinks theres no problem thus returning the engine to full power?!

I just changed the maf probably 80 miles ago as it was cutting out badly, but this is different and just on the left hand bank of cylinders and mostly number 4. It says on the diagnostic machine missfire detected cylinder 4 and as soon as I pressed - clear faults it instantly stopped and ran smooth.
Its not a limp home mode, runs rough.
Its very strange..
Thank you very much guys.
