Norwich Speed Camera madness :wall:
Beccy has just left work and phoned me in disbelief.
There has just been one of those new Speed Camera's installed that also gets you if you jump a Red-Light at the bottom of 'Grapes Hill' in Norwich. For those that don't know, it is a stretch of 3-Lane Road down a fairly steep hill, which then goes over a junction and flattens out into 2-lanes (1 was for a Left-Turn). She sat waiting to turn left and witnessed the camera Flash approximately 30 Times during each of the 2 Traffic light cycles that she was stuck there. Which means in only one Traffic light cycle that camera convicted 15 people.
I find that unbelievable. Tell me that isn't purely there as a Revenue Earner?? They obviously aren't doing enough in terms of prevention (Signs etc). I see that as the responsibility of the Police to control speed, not convict as many people as possible. Look at it this way, if they are that worried about the speed on that stretch of road, 30 people managed to do more than 30mph along it in under 5 minutes today, any one of those could have killed someone crossing the road. Oh well, at least Norfolk Police got their £1800.
Thats over £20,000 per hour??!!
