well as above i have a mk3 escort with a 4 speed, i would like to upgrade to either IB5 or an XR2 gearbox... what parts would be required? i already have an XR2 gearbox in the garage but what are benefits of using an IB5 over the XR2 box?

IB5 will last longer than the BC box as the bearings are bit beefier. If you have teh XR2 box sat there you might as well put it in if it's a known quantity. You'll need the box and iirc the selector and linkage (don't quote me on that though)

go buy a mk5 escort (pinch bolt on clutch fork) gearbox, all front starter gearboxes fit but i will reccomend a diesel box that makes the car accelerate like a motherfucker but runs out of steam at 120mph, perfect for non turbo Escorts
