Default Big thanks to James/Stu @ Motorsport Developments

Just a little thanks for giving the taxi a set-up and health check today, the car runs lovely and got home in one piece

Had to laugh when Steph rang me and i was in the cinema watching Hangover II....... Had to make a sharp exit....

I told ya it was just a tad rich didn't I lol

Well worth the 562mile round trip today, couldn't have asked for much more.

One satisfied customer

Now i'm off to bed, goodnight

mines booked in 24th of this month im hoping i get the same reult as to say mine is running rich is an understatement, since i fitted my new msd chip the co2 is at ten percent and everytime i check my oil it keeps getting higher and higher! ive changed it 3 times in as many weeks!! fortunatley i dont need to use the car and wont till its set up good job really as its used 27 litres of v power in the past 3 weeks just driving it in and out of the workshop its not even clocked up a mile in all that time now that is bad mpg lol
roll on the 24th when they can work thier magic!

I haven't got the need for any fancy livemap Paul. Just got a L8 harvey low comp chip on 803's on a T34. But as i hadn't had the car set-up since harvey built the engine in 2003 i thought just for piece of mind it give it a health check and set-up..

They found a small number of faults with airleaks, mixture and the TPS was reading incorrectly. Also had a problem starting when cold (this was down to the mixture being aweful for a long time ) and the boost was a touch high...

Driving the car home was a pleasure, the car wasn't terrible before but after the set-up it improved it loads. chuffed wasn't the word

A set up doesnt involve any mapping,
we simply go through all the base settings, correct and sensor gaps and alignments, check all ECU functions, pressure test the inlet, fix heaps of faults then go out and set the fuelling and boost live on the road.

Then give it back with a full work report of what we have found, what we have done, and what you should do to ensure the car stays safe.

Takes best part of a day to complete, and costs Ł144.00 inc vat.

Yeah, it does sound like money well spent.. cause I'm sure a lot of people expect a set-up to be a brief check, set the boost/fuelling on rollers and off you pop.

It's good to see the breakdown of all the work that's done for a set up at MSD.

Cheers,
Grant

Yeah i got a folder of what works was done/needed/altered/reccomended

Didn't get fed any bullshit, just what was done.. After James had finished he added the plugs were ok but said about banging a new set in as they were 5yrs old. So went with his advice

Also told ya (where there was a fault) what work was done to rectify them...

It didn't run that crap before really Glenn... But James contacted me reguarding the set-up service and went on gut instint and booked up an appointment.

But i knew it was overfuelling and running rich as it really struggled to start sometimes, even when hot or cold. But it had a few air leaks on the inlet which i wasn't aware of, also the TPS was reading -5 when the throttle was shut off. So the issues were sorted before sometime drastic happened.

Def tell the difference, well worth the trip in my eyes

are these setups worthwhile on newer cars? (i.e. an FRS)

i've fitted my new manifold, the car runs a bluefin and i feel like it could cope with a little more boost....just trying to justfy the big round trip

As she's a teacher Stu, we can go somewhere when the kids are off. She did remember you though from when you picked her up at National day in the bar quite some years ago when we were doing karaoke.. (think it was 2006) lol
