If its a gift then no he can't claim it back.

I sold £3500 worth of parts to a guy in Italy who paid by paypal and I was told it would be ok that way.

If you gift someone the money there is NO comeback, loads of people have never received parts after paying via a gift and had no way of getting their money back either as Paypal wont backup that service.

The only issue here is that if the bank account linked to his paypal is someone elses ( ie stolen ) then Paypal could and probably would want the money back.

Regardless if the money is sent as a gift, if the funding source is a credit card the money still can be returned to the buyer if they issue a charge-back through their credit card company.

They only time the money is reasonably safe to accept in that manner is if the funding source is funds already in the buyers Paypal account and the money is sent as a gift, even then I wouldn't trust it to be safe.

If I were you I wouldn't accept any payment by Paypal unless you are able and ready to lose that amount of money.

DON'T DO IT! These scammers are clever fuckers! ive been done for £1200 before and the police aint interested! Dont go near anything that isnt british, cash or cheque! my mate almost got done for £8k, even the bank said the cheque would of cleared but then a few weeks later he would of got a letter from his bank saying it was a fraud and the £8k would be removed from his account.....his car would of gone and he'd be £8k down!
