That looks like a good idea but.... and there is always one...

Who's actually paid for the car and who will pay for the parts or another car if it does get smashed up behond repair?
Even if members help with fixing it, you still need to buy parts. And you might know people who can get them cheap, you still have to pay a tad bit for them.....

Or will the fee to pay to drive it cover this as well? Or will there be a clause on the disclaimer saying that if you break it, you have to help fix it, fair enough, but also pledge some money towards the cost of the repairs?

Sorry to bring the money matter into it... My hat off to all those who have donated their time/money.... to build the car, but surely even their generosity has an end...
And the club couldn't afford to run the car at their own cost..... or at a loss....

Also, will you be putting any restrictions on who can drive it? Like apart from being a full payind member, you will need to have done a few track days in your own car or someone elses... Driving experience..... ?

It is a lovely idea.... and I would much rather thrash someone else's car around a track than mine. But I fail to see how you can manage to run it for long..

buffy bite me

I've made my views clear about how I don't like the way the essex club is run since day one... sorry but I am entitled to my own opinion!

What I am really concerned about is the valid points mrs Frog makes above! Just be careful I don't want to the see the club, the essex branch, the comittee or the members hurt/sued/upset!

I am personally very happy with the direction the Essex RSOC is going and i think that Buffy and her fellow committiee members have done a brilliant job so far, and i know they will continue to put 110% into the running of the club and i am happy to help out because i know how hard they work for the club.

At the end of the day, the members must agree because every 2nd Tuesday of the month the Essex RSOC is rammed no matter what the weather, and surely if they didn't like the way it was run then they wouldn't bother to turn up would they?

Most people do realise how much time and effort Buffy & Forrest put in to keep the club moving forward, but i think sometimes a 'select few' seem to forget

Everyone has their opinions, and yes you have every right to air them, my personal view is, if the Essex RSOC members are happy then it doesn't matter what the others think does it!

I think it's a great idea!

I bet many other clubs, groups and websites etc follow suit.

Well done the Essex RSOC, but then again Essex is the BEST county!

So how about a PassionFord trackday car?

I reckon we've got too many members you'd be lucky to get 15 minutes a year!

well done & good idea.
I've been unable to attend the Essex meets for about 6 months now due to nightschool, and seems i've a lot of catching up to do.

Thought for the future - possibility of other groups getting cars of their own and some enthusiastic track day driving (not racing - ever, - not allowed!)

its a good idea

but what happens if you drive it and the engine blows due to wear and tear - are you obliged to help fix it? and what happens if you are not very handy with a spanner?
