how long ,and is there another way of
removing engine from a 4wd saff
without dropping the whole front suspension

You're supposed to take it out the bottom yes.

Unless you are going to cut the driveshafts suspension has to come out.

took me 1 hour to get it out of a 4x4 is very easy really, just gearbox mounts, and 4 bolts that hold the subframe in of course it does help if you have a car ramp.....or in my case a forklift that i just shoved through the side of the car to lift the shell off

Took us longer to cut through the exhaust on my old XR4x4 than it did to take the engine out
Three blokes and a big trolley jack



Bit more difficult if you'd like to keep the car intact though
