Default Single Pass v Twin Pass intercooler?

Which is better? for the application twin pass helps with the pipework, but its not essential if single pass is best.

Single pass will have better throttle response in theory but may not cool as effectively. I run a twin pass front mount and my throttle response is fine.

It's to go on a 1.8T VW 20V engine with a T34, so throttle response should be ok i hope lol
