well i was out for a spin with my mates 3 door cosworth yesterday when it decided to die and then the wiring behind the dash on the left got very hot and start burning,havent had a chance to look at it yet but we had issues with the abs pump sticking when the car was rebuild last year and the wiring on the battery getting hot any help or info would be great.

It sounds either a short, or more likely a overloaded circuit, look at the wire that leads from the battery positive that is black with a white tracer, it will be in a sheath, but suffers terribly from major high resistance build up, as I've found on a few sierras over the years.
