Default Track tyre question

I'm having trouble getting hold of some Tyres for my motor I'm running 205-40-16 Avon zz3 but I can't replace them as there's none in the country tried everywhere. So I only need replace 2 so was going to replace them with toyo proxes 4. But have been told today its the worst thing to do by running different Tyres on the front to the back. What do you think any info would be great cause don't want to be wasting my time and cash cheers

Obviously different tyres with different grip and characteristics could make for some interesting handling.

it may be fine, it may understeer like fuck, or oversteer like fuck.

R888's then or similar.

Certainly not the tyres you are currently using.

If you dont want to change all 4. Using the 2 Avons with 2 new Toyos will be 10000% fine.

Running different tyres is only a problem if you run totally different tyres on the same axle... and even then, its not exactly risking life and limb

Toyo's it is then I love the 888's but there way to pricey and I've heard they don't last very long.

My advice would be to use 15 inch for track (unless you have big brakes that need 16's) as you have a much bigger tyre choice in this size.

The problem with using non trackday tyres on track is if you drive hard you can destroy them in a couple of hours very easily, so the more expensive trackday tyres actaully last longer in that situation.

That's the problem I've had to go from 15 to 16 for the brakes

I see your point I'm just being tight.

Best tight option is some decent secondhand tyres but they arent easy to come by generally.

For example I bought some Pilot sport cups that are normally nearly 200 quid a corner for 35 quid a corner last year and they had 3/4 of the tread left still.
