what are people paying on average for scrap cars now?

ive got my daughters 1.2 v reg corsa that got well and truly cooked on the motorway today so engine is fooked.just going to weigh the 2 months tax in and scrap the car as its not the tidiest.

just wondering what the going rate is at the mo?

 

I weighed a corsa in a few months ago with a fooked engine and got 120 quid for it, but i believe prices have risen slightly recently as i got 175 quid for a 306 last week.

 

i got £215 for a mondeo this morning plus £60 for the cat and £60 for the alloys

 

i think its £160 a ton atm, so youd proberly get offerd around £100 from one of those people offering scrap car collections in the papers etc...?

 

ill have a ring around in the morning as i dont really have time to take it in myself and cut cat off etc.
was hoping to get £150 for it ideally.

 

think you will struggle getting that for it tbh, my pal does the scrap motors and something like that he would only give around £80 for, maybe a little more if allys, decent cd player etc and thats only if it had an original cat as aftermarket ones only get about £5 of the cat bloke

 

well,i rang a couple of places local.
one offered me between £60-70
another offered me £100
another £125 but couldnt collect it until next week
then i found one 10 miles away who said they would give me £150 if i got it to them so i towed it to them,they had a quick look round it, they knew the engine was u/s and handed over £150 in cash!
happy days.......
