just had car back from paint shop the doors and bonnet were done a few weeks afer the car anyway the doors look a different couler the painter said it was from the same batch of paint and it will dry back with the sun on it is he bullshiting me to fob me off as he wonted car out of workshop or is this normal or what has he done wrong any feedback would be great as i dont wont him to have the car back i,v lost a bit of faith in him to be honest im gutted a bit, if i gotta pay sum1 else to put it right then so be it

theres a number of things that could cause it mate, there all a ball ache, and he's definitely bull shitting. his stirring stick could have been dirty, or his gun could have been dirty, or he could have used different primers, theres loadsa issues like that.

we'v had this before now, the obvious solution is too have it painted down both sides, but then will it match to the bonnet, roof, bumpers etc. if you go and request both sides be painted in a different body shop, explain the reason. explain the door is wrong and ask them to blend through the rear quarter panels, and front wing. but make sure you ask them to do it clear over base. because blending with 2k high solid, results in tide lines at a later date.

can i ask how much you paid to have the car blown over?

it depends who you go to and where you go mate. he has absolutely no excuse for it looking like it does. other than the colour change is everything else ok? finish wise?

if you get into your head 300 quid to put it right you shouldnt be far wrong in all honesty mate, but we are one of the cheapest body shops around.

i hate it when somebody does something entirely right (you). and somebody does a half ass job and still has the cheek to charge top money. its ridiculous. i hope you get it sorted mate.

yeah a painters eye is like a concourse eye. anal to f**k haha. i cant believe he had it for a year, charged that money, and its still not right. go back and kick up a fuss. he sounds like a bit of a C**T to be honest. My boss refuses to have cars in the garage for more than two weeks. and we can turn a repaint around in two days. your gonna think im biased in saying this. but our work is second to none. i wouldnt trust any other painter.

Car looks lovely to start off with,albeit minus the doors.
Different paint suppliers mix differently,wrongly,but it certainly happens,I`ve been the victim of this many a time,in fact in the end I changed my suppliers,good news for you,bad news is you`ll have to go into Cardiff to get it,which is never a good thing (just fucking with you!!).
Give autopaints a bell,their spot on on the colourmixes,we ended up doing edge to edge stuff on newer cars without blending as their mixes were so good,their not the cheapest,but they are the best.
If he paints that back in the proper shade of Frozen white you`ll never notice any shading issues,it won`t need blending.
Of course,I can`t see the pictures perfectly but it looks a smashing job to be honest and Ł1200 is about right.
And to whover said you can do a full respray in two days,I`d love to see that on anything other than a few month old car,it takes a day to mask the fucker up properly!!!

Probably sprayed the car a year ago and the doors recently, reckon he lost his glasses in between and picked up the 'austin beige' instead of frozen white.

th lads in my garage can mask a car PROPERLY in an hour tops tho one of them has been painting for 30 years
tho your right on the two days thing it takes my lads 3 days minimum filling and priming one day, paint and lauquer the next followed by polishing on the third day

Is it frozen white or diamond? i autho repairs to hundreds of frozen white fords every week and i only ever autho painting edge to edge with no blends at all and to this day i have only ever had 1 problem and that turned out to be a paint supplier issue not due to my repairer.

he's taking total bollox's, demand the entire car is blown over again and tell him he has the car for 2 weeks max!!!

what i would do is paint it in base and clearcoat, base the door up and blow it into the quarter and wing then laquer the whole side, its the only way to ensure a match without risking a new missmatch by the bootlid or tailgate

well i could,ent sleep last night done a bit of pace,ing up and down u know, wonted to go round and fill him in 3am not good but my miss,s said that was a bit stupid..so i waited untill 9.00 this morning and phoned him i told him the score that he either pays for it to be redone or he's does it while i,m on holiday and i,m not open to negotiation i aslo stated that if it was,ent on my drive by next saturday all sorted when i get home, i was going to put his head through a wall.... i,m normally a nice calm guy but he has really pissed me off i just thought i gotta steam in all guns to sort it we,ll see what happens....he said he,s gonna scotch it and blow it all over again he recons that the hardener was left on the shelf too long inbetween coats which made it go yellow should state that the bonnet and tailgate are different coluers again lol not showing in picture i,ll get sum up

im in the same boat mate, my car was painted after they had it a year, got it back to have faults, they took it back and rectified them and came back even worse, ive sent it to someone who will do a propr job now and i wrote a letter to the bodyshop to say i want a full refund or court action will be taking, ive had no reply an he has until the end of te month, as soon as its 1st of june and no reply iwill be going to court to get my money back

that colour will never in a million years fade to the rest of the car, its a different colour all together
