Nurburgring Trip Booked. Anyone fancy it?
Hi Guys & Girls,
I haven't been to the ring for ages and Mandy has never been so I thought I would book a long weekend away and throw down an open invitation for people to join us for the driving, eating, drinking and general unwinding that time in the unrivaled Eiffel mountains and surreal surroundings offer.
Travel dates:
Going Out:
Leaving Hull on the 9pm Ferry to Zebrugee on the 9th June
Coming Back:
Leaving Zebrugee on the 9pm Ferry to Hull on the 13th June
I am also looking at maybe hiring a racecar while out there and have inquired about a ring taxi ride but certainly wont hold my breath for the latter.

Have fun, was there last month
Dates are a bit pants this year - you're only going to get the Sat eve, Sun and early Mon before you set off. Just pray for minimal track closures, we did really well in April.

Has anyone been out in the 911 GT3 Clubsport? Amazingly, it is available on the dates I am going, but its Ł350 per person. Any feedback from anyone on here as I kind of wanted to go in the good old M5?

i've always been interested in doing this
the map shows it will take me 3hr 44mins to Hull from Essex and 3hr 42mins if i go to dover get a ferry and meet you in Zeebrugge, so would look to meet you on the way
have you any ideas on accomodation out there, I have had a look in the past, but would like to hear from experience

Oh no, when did that happen?!
Hire a car or fix the HG mate, its a month a way!
Those times sound about right mate, but the route to ring is quite different to Zeebrugge so may be easier for you to drive direct to the ring and meet us there. Yes, if you need a hotel then I can recomend a couple from personal experience.
Expect to pay about 30 euros per head per night.

not bad at all stu, the rears were a bit of a pain in the arse, luckily i know a guy in bmw so he told us about all the trim bits that needed to be removed
the backs were much worse than the front
backs is a case of, rear seats, c pillar trims, parcel shelf, speakers, that allows you at the top then under side its rollbar one link arm, and thats about it
dont whatever you do listen to google search i rear it and theres so much you dont need to do!
fronts are like a cossie tbh, pinch bolt, three on strut top, pull the strut out the arch and lever it out the pinch tube
you will need help and its a 2 man job at times but not difficult
dads has done 150k iirc and it wasnt bad
ps: got into one there but at least you now know

I changed the dampers on my E39 a few years ago. Acutally found the rears easy. Back seat and shelf comes out easily enough. The front arm does not drop enough to come off the strut so you have to compress it and position it outside of the wheel arch. The aluminium hub carrier can react/bond to the steel damper body too.

We actually have FIVE white Loti now between me, Sean and Renton
he got his last week. I've had mine a few months. mine
Seans.
Sean has 2. A MENTAL S1 and now a standard S2.
Renton has this BEAUTIFUL 422bhp Audi turbocharged S1
and Stu is building an Audi powered S1 as well. It will be finished soon, and upto his normal amazing standard. he is drip feeding up bling pics as he builds it. It will be v cool.
Will be great having them all at Trackdays together.

Oh boy, they look fun, and FAST!
How many damned cars have you got now Lee?
I saw them myself actually but when compared to Billies at almost Ł2K and KW at about Ł1400, I couldnt help but wonder.. "Why so cheap?"
I really may opt for brand new OE units. The M5 hardly handled bad as standard and I do like my comfort nowadays... I can buy OE for around Ł700 all in.

I'd go for OE I think Stu, i'd happily be 5 seconds a lap slower and more comfortable on the journey over there, your car isnt intended as a trackday car at the end of the day and it would be a shame to stop it being an awesome tourer just to try and make it slightly better on track.

Thanks Guys, appreciate the feedback. In all my years around cars, I have never had to dismantle the suspension on an E39. Testimony to how over-engineeerd they are I guess.

the car is an ocasional track/ring car and road now and then
it dosnt do high milage tbh but it does get a battering
i have literally just driven it home and can say that it is still super comfy, you wouldnt have any problems with it being stiff and uncomfortable on the super sports
the problem dad found is on the road its average on standard, rolls about too much, but soon as you get to brunters or on a track it felt absolutely shocking, the suspension looked mint that came of it too, just tooo soft!
these are very nice to be honest and a bargain at the price, if they last then brill
