They're not a Zetec engine. Use an RS2000 head on the original block and get it re-mapped

As above, use the RS2000 head, but beware that this may well raise the c/r to over 12:1 and may cause damage to the cast pistons.

Some people have had about 1mm taken off the standard cast pistons to lower the c/r to manageable levels. You coulds always fit forged pistons of course.

You may also benefit from a mappable ecu in order to get the fuelling correct amongst other things

Other wise its a case of doing what you would do with any other n/a engine in order to try and get more power from it, raise the revs, port the head, change the cams etc etc etc

same heads, just put some cams in it and then it's time to fit a hair drier to it to make the best out of it

they also respond well to after-market management with "tweaks" in the shape of megasquirt or the like

They do like being turbo'd, but finding parts is not straight forward, but then again its not impossible either!

320bhp @12psi from the 2.3 sounds good, more available if you up the boost of course

Nitrous is also good as mentioned, I have a won setup on my car and its lively

I can supply you with fresh build 2.3 engine @ Ł1500 with 2L head fitted and skimmed pistons to whatever c/r you wish.

Good turbo engine? Ł4K. Can suply one of those also.

everyone who i know who has done the swap has said they are the same heads and have the same cams and have psoted up the part numbers from microcat to show this is the fact

why would i need to spend millions of Ł on an rs head when the normal head is no different?

and seeing as you can buy a complete running car for what i've seen "rs" heads go for, it doens't take a rocket scientist to see that it's all about the badge mentality pushing up the costs

the 2.3 blocks are exactly the same for the fwd and rwd cars other than having different holes tapped for the engine mounts, or is that a huge revalation as well?

Ł2-300 for a running 2.3 scorpio i've been buying in the past to get things running and even the rebuild kits use the same gaskets and stuff so whats so different other than the prices?

the guy wants to get more power out of his current engine, so just bolt on a turbo and job done

Wot power would I be getting for 1500? But if it is as easy as just bolting a turbo on I'd rather just do that?

For the turbo you would need, iirc;

GT28
Nissan manifold 200sx I think was used, with a SS I4 inlet manifold plate welded onto it
Forged pistons
Steel rods
Standard cams
Standard head
Nissan side feed injectors, can't rem what cc/min
Engine management

The 2.3 heads do have some differences, the thermostat outlet being one, but nothing that cannot be sorted.

Remove the balancer shafts

Deck the pistons or have the combustion chambers machined out to suit the desired compression ratio or forged pistons

Add ARP rod bolts.

Head work with standard valves and 3 angles on the seats.

Kent or piper cams.

45 throttle bodies and Omex or similar

All in a mk5 escort and it was not slow !

I used a Tony Law Manifold

I got 227 hp @ 7000 & @ 185ft

Got some pics of the build and dyno graphs somewere
