If these figures are anywhere near, then I agree with rod. 400bhp in 1467kg isn't that fast in todays terms, it's just too lardy.
Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 400
Weight without Driver (KG) : 1467
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 277.04
0 - 60 (Secs) : 4.55
0 - 100 (Secs) : 9.63
60 - 100 (Secs) : 5.08
Quarter Mile (Secs) : 12.75
Terminal Speed (MPH) : 115.08
Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 12.55
Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 117.17
As a comparison a 280bhp gtir can do 12.8s my lighterweight 300bhp one can do 12.0s. (and yes I know the gtir is awd, but the extra power of the RS should hammer it, well it will at high speed)

Oh Rod, who is in heaven not quite yet,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy Cossie come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is at Brunters.
Give us this day our daily belittlement.
And forgive us our opinions,
as we forgive those who drive RST's.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from Japs cars.
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory. for ever and ever. Amen

Oooh that looks nice, bet it's bloody swift at 400bhp too
Will keep an eye for it, and not race it lol......blimey poor old Rod don't half like to harp on about his old saph, is it THAT hard to appreciate another car for what it is rather than comparing it to what his old saph that's had god knows how many thousand chucked at it can roll down a runway at once every few years

got to agree with Rod im affraid,i have owned a 380hp frs mk2 and dont get me wrong feels fast and punchy but when you go against anything with simular power it just gets left behind ,probably just there too heavy, brilliant handling car cant fault the chassis, and too be fare im sure Jamies has only managed a 13.6 quarter with a reputed 450 hp
Great looking and handling car and i would say good a to b car but not fast

I have no doubt your Datsun is quicker but the FRS has got to be a genuinely much nicer place to sit. Has all the mod cons expected of a modern car,is safer (Hence the weight), more reliable and still meet current emissions etc etc and still be a 'quick' car.
The 20 years difference in age is such a biggie in this argument.

I bought fast ford a while back and there was a couple in there at 400bhp, the times they put in where pretty lame really.
Also there was a couple at the recent 30-130 day with decent power and again pretty poor times for the power iirc.
Weird they seem not that great on paper.
I have driven a standard one and was quite impressed with the performance, I think the hit of grunt from the 2.5 gives the impression it's faster than it actually is (which is fine by me as I'm more interested in the feel than bragging)
Still think kudos to ford for actually producing a car like this is deserved.

only on a ford site would you get all this. it does'nt matter if its not 500+bhp.
is it involving to drive and does it make you smile. it seems alot of people are chasing bhp readings. if you are your looking at the wrong type of car!
power freaks. waaaaaaaaaaaaaaa lol

Would prefer a standard 300 bhp Focus to Rod's Saph let alone a 400 bhp one. It might be bloody quick but i very much doubt that it's as practical as a daily driver compared to the Focus.

Surely the post of the year so far!
Fook me thats some hit mate. I paid £27.5K for mine brand new. The car currently has 3200 miles on it and have been offered £24.5k by a specialist dealer. It is soon to be 2 years old also...
As far as a direct comparison as you will ever get. Granted you have stated the 4wd aspect, however the only other part of the comparision that is the same is the cars are modified.

You did well to get a lux pac 2 and leather for 27.5k.

the 1 i looked at was a 10 plate lux spec 1,6500 miles, green with green interior, completely standard, tbh it wasnt immaculate and the ford dealership wanted 25500 for it.the place on pistonheads have a very nice 1 for 23999 with leather and lux spec 2,3500 miles.ill be going there when i get all my pennys together!
