Good advice that IMO. Get an escort van, cheap to run,easy to maintain and a van always comes in handy!

Cavalier 1.7TD..... mine sees over 500 miles to a tank and I paid Ł200 for it 8 months ago and apart from tax and fuel its never cost me a penny

Golf mk3/4 TDi estate (do not buy an SDi!!!!)
Passat TDi estate
Focus/Mondeo TDDI estate (TDCI is quicker but seem to go wrong more)
Astra/Vectra TDI estate (the Fords are slightly better IMO)

any pug 406 hdi in had 1 in the famly for the last 8 years only cost is sevicing and clucth 50+mpg every day
