So every time you switch it off it drives slow for the first mile relearns and drive super!! Been to a ford specialist who has been stumped and suggested I tried a forum!! Does the ecu have a separate back up battery?? Any ideas to try would be most appreciated !

The ecu doesnt have a seperate battery but does have an seperate permanent supply feed.
I cant help with specifics but I would be checking ALL fuses one at a time with a multimeter in the first instance.

How do you know it's the ECU that's "Lost memory"?
It's more likely it has a short term fault that's correcting itself after a mile, or your brakes are sticking!

Brakes are fine thanks. All fuses have been checked, the battery was the ford specialist guess! It's just a mystery or the ecu is broken, no fault codes! I will get my multi meter out and check the live feed to the ecu!
Thanks for the suggestions G!

had a poor batt in my car when I first had her every time you start dials would do a full sweep and idle could be lumpy till it learned this was resolved by having a new batt the other thing is you would have a feed called KAP keep alive power this has it own fuse so worth checking that and having that feed wire tested.

Chaz888 Have looked in the hand book, no mention of any KAP lead!! Where would I locate this?? If it turns out just to be a fuse I want my money back from that ford garage!!

It's KAM, the term ford use, for Keep Alive Memory, it could also be a dud ecu chip, but due to cost eliminate everything else first, the KAM fuse is usually a Violet 2 amp fuse.

The fuse may not be marked as KAM, do you have a owners handbook, it may show a picture of a engine, look in the fusebox/s and see if there is a violet 2 or 3 amp fuse in one, and what the lid says it is for, what is the picture for it ?

I think you need to establish weather the power to the ecu is actually failing. Certainly sounds like it isn't to me. You sure it isn't just because the engine is cold it isn't running to its full potential?
You could always log a fault code by pulling air flow meter or something to bring the warning light on, plug it back in, then restart the engine. If warning light is still on, then there was power to he ecu, as this fault would have been wiped if power to the ecu was lost.
