Does it need to run water through it or can I just join the 2 pipes together one of the metal fittings has split and I'm stuck

Don't really need the water cooling runs ok without, just plug up the water feeds!
I've kust left the pipes on the turbo open until I can get new hard pipes for it, odds of anything getting therein there is very slim.
