Default N/A ZVH

What sort of realistic power would a 2.0 litre ZVH acheive N/A?
I know its better to go full zetec but I wouldnt wanna Im just thinking of options rather than the usual drop a turbo lump in

depends on how deep your pockets are. theoretically i guess you could achieve about 200bhp if you went all-out. i do know a man who may have one for sale though if you are interested. it needs some management, or putting on carbs, but it would probably be around the 160bhp mark when sorted. good solid engine though

What can a CVH N/A acheive though? I did think about it, I have a spare block so thought on the lines of bored out to 1700 and stage 3 head or something but by the time that is done what BHP is it going to acheive? Hence thinking ZVH so it looks standardish from the top! Other than that its some sort of turbo conversion but not just a straight swap!

You can always keep the coils and use aftermarket management like emerald or megajolt too to keep a nice period looking engine bay

Iirc the mts mk3 escort track car uses a zvh on carbs......think that was advertised in the magazines as being around the 175bhp mark, don't know exactly what was done to it but might be worth looking into

Oh, and someone i know spent an absolute fortune on building a high comp 1.9 cvh as he was keen not to stray away from a cvh, fully worked head with big cam and high comp pistons as well as 48mm throttle bodies and omex management......sounded lovely and looked cool but tbh wasn't very quick at all, was estimated around the 180bhp mark but never went on the rollers.
He wished he'd just gone for an st170 engine to start with as it would have made LOADS more power especially for the money he chucked at the cvh and generally been a better engine, i wouldn't bother with a cvh unless i was strapping a turbo to it!
