When stripping my car I noticed a very small leak in the front of my rad.

Anyway I can repair this as money is tight and can't really afford a new one...!!

I used some stuff that come in a small plastic tube, you tear a lump off then keed it with your fingers, i done my rad 15 years ago and had no problems but for the life of me i cant remember what the stuff is called, maybe someone here will know what its called.

 

my advice, buy new.
I replaced the one on my van as it was wrecked, held water but looked awfull and wouldnt have lasted much longer. bought a second hand one, it leaked, bought a recored one, it leaked, tried another recore and its been ok so far.
then the cossie rad blew the bottom row out, bought second hand, it leaked, got pissed off and bought a cheap ebay ally rad, spot on.
i weighed in 6 knackered radiators the other week

 

A recon is like Ł110 but people say you can repair them. Even if its just lasts the summer I can replace it in the winter!

 

How big is the hole? If it's just a small drip and it is only to last a few months then i'd be tempted to just shove some radweld into it. Mate of mine did this to his old R5 GTT and it held fine for a couple of years!

 

It rteally is only a small leak. I do want a brand new one but having it resprayed at the minute so need to save where I can!

KALIMEX K-SEAL, nothing else comes close, know of diesel engine blocks over 5 years old repaired with this, that have had subsequent anti freeze changes still not leaking a drop, add to the coolant, it does the rest.
