Wheel Offset Altering.
Ok.. So I've made a small (read MASSIVE) error, and bought some wheels that have basically an offset that is too low for my car.

I think I could get them on, but I think they'll be poking out a few mm.
I know people run different wheels with an offset that is around 2-3mm different to mine, but that 2-3mm seems to be making a massive difference

Would it be safe to lower the offset through machining the rear of the wheel? I think, from my uneducated guess that there is enough meat on them to machine a couple of mm off.
What other options do I have apart from selling up and buying a different set of wheels (which I really do not want to do
)
Also, the rears will be fine, with no issue at all, its just the fronts I'm worried about!

Wish coilovers were an option! Haven't got the cash to splash on those yet
I've given a spare wheel to a machine shop to see if they can do it. Finding out tomorrow what they think is possible! Waiting with baited breath!!

You should get away with 2-3mm off the mounting face, I did it to the front wheels when I fitted EsCos wheels to my XR4x4.
I had to change the wheel nuts as the threads bottomed out before they where completely tight.

Should be ok if there is plenty of meat left on the mating face, 2-3mm should be fine. I wouldn't be surprised if the machine shop don't do it though due to safety, covering their arses etc!
