Default Wheel Offset Altering.

Ok.. So I've made a small (read MASSIVE) error, and bought some wheels that have basically an offset that is too low for my car.

I think I could get them on, but I think they'll be poking out a few mm.

I know people run different wheels with an offset that is around 2-3mm different to mine, but that 2-3mm seems to be making a massive difference

Would it be safe to lower the offset through machining the rear of the wheel? I think, from my uneducated guess that there is enough meat on them to machine a couple of mm off.

What other options do I have apart from selling up and buying a different set of wheels (which I really do not want to do)

Also, the rears will be fine, with no issue at all, its just the fronts I'm worried about!
