why am i looking at s1,s all the time
i find myself always looking at s1s ,i had a couple back 15 year ago and they never drove great tbh,and when i got my first cossie the difference was night and day ..................
but i still want one as their so fookin cool lo,l
should i part with the stage 3 4b saff for one ?
the only thing is it would have to be concourse or very close .
would or have you ever felt the same ?

The problem with them is to get a usable one then you have to compromise on condition which is a big problem for the S1 as they have to look mint to pull it off - when i bought my MINT S1 i only used it a couple of times and if a cloud was in the sky then it would stay in the garage which isn't the way to enjoy a car.

100% agree chris ,they have to be mint like yours was .they will never drive like a cossie imo so when the suns out i would find it hard to overlook the cossies to go for a blast

Me and AJC currently have one being restored that was amazing to drive. It was quite surprising to drive one that drove so nice! All it lacked was power steering to make it really easy to drive. I've never driven one as good as that ever.

from an investment point of view i would say yes as i can only see these going up in price, but would i swap a 4b saff for it? now thats the question i would be inclined to say after owning an s2 (with s1 front setup) and a 4x4 3 door. no, i wouldnt swap and thats not just cus mines a 3 door if it was a saff i would have same answer.
allthough there is something very hard looking about an s1!
choices choices choices!!!

s1's drive not bad if the bits are in good condition etc..not long finished mine with as many new bits on that i could get..it drives really nice.no rattles, fairly smooth etc..steering is fine until i reverse park into the garage where its a 50 point turn!.problem is finding spares and the cost of them. anyway get one if you want to stand out. im paranoid about it getting pinched so hardly use it

had a couple and love them, as said they have to be minty to really looks the part, but at around Ł7k you can pick up a very nice car, not a show winner but still a good looking car.
The 2nd one I had was on the original wheels and drove so well, power was 207bhp (rolling roaded by the following owner) and pulled well, especially being a small car.
Got to say that it can be a total buzz to own one as everyone wants a gander and they just seem to have a cool status.
my first, currently being restored in a big way by it's new owner...
and the second one I owned...
when I picked her up...
after a bit of smartening up

Love series 1's, only problem is after a cossie they just don't drive as nice. I would love another one just to pamper and use in the summer.
The big problem is bits now, IMHO they HAVE to have the over riders & spots on, or they just look rough, and need the original wheels as well. Seats are a bastard to find in good condition as well.

Then the fun begins with trying to source the original bits.
Whatever you do if you do get one.... DO NOT break or bin anything!
I unfortuantly tried to pop off the brake servo pipe and snapped the end off... That was 5 weeks ago... and I still cant find one
