Default cosworth iscv

I bought a new iscv off ebay as i was fed up with mine pratting around, fitted it and it starts fine but revs up to 2.5k and doesnt drop back

my old one starts fine but randomly revs its self

im planning on getting the car mapped properly, is the iscv needed ? can it be mapped to start without ?

can the old ones be stripped down and cleaned properly, ive tried the wd40 and oil before but its never worked

cheers paul

what does it do when you unplug it? do the revs stay high or return to normal?

Dont strip an iscv by any means, small nut has a habit of fallin into intake and getting chewed up, remove it , drop it into an eggcup of petrol up to the flange and leave for 12 hrs .pulse the soluble a few times with a 9v battery (pp3) with some wire jumpers and remove and refit....

Will be perfect , it gets gummed up by emulstion(sp) in the fuel

Rock and roll

Mine is the same tbh, im blaming it on the chip. Ive checked everything else inc. the loom.
its not a stuck valve though as its obviously moving when connected.

how is the TPS calibrated James? I think I'll have to do mine as I somethimes have the same problem. I've got a secs monitor and even on idle the monitor sometimes shows the throttle position to be 15%.

would calibrating the tps solve this?

To set the tps you have to check the voltage between pins 11'and 17 you want to see under 0.5 volts throttle closed 4.5volts throttle open on a 2wd tps or reverse the voltages for 4x4 tps
