HUGE thanks to the Sonnie and the Guys at Grove Auto Parts!!!
Hi everyone...its not often enough you see posts cropping up thanking people of their services or products...
I wont go into the full story here, ill reserve that for my build thread about people letting me down etc etc...HOWEVER, Sonnie definately came up trumps with this!
I bought 3 210a alternators off him nearly a year ago on the promise from someone else that they will be able to fit them asap...took the dive and ordered the alts and met up with Sonnie to pick them up....after discussing various options, and lots of different scenarios with alts etc, I was on my way home a good few hundreds of pounds lighter but with 3 alts ready to go!
Next the alts were sent off to Adam (DumDum) who modified them to accept the external regulator and also supplied the external regulator...after getting them back a while later....the next God knows howmany months were left with me chasing people to fit them for me, chasing people to give me the Previa back, and getting NOTHING but fob stories left right and center....I would have rathered these people be straight up instead of making me chase for my vehicle!
After what must of been around 6-9months if not longer, Sonnie gave me a ring so I could drop off the vehicle as he was ready and had moved into the new workshop allowing him to take one more volume of work and hold bigger stock etc. Unfortunately, it was around the same time that my Gran fell ill and past away that the vehicle was due to be dropped off...I manned up and dropped it off a few days after he passed away...more than anything, the biggest reason was due to needing more parking space! While I werent going to do anything to the vehicle, Sonnie could crack on with the alt install...
He said the vehicle would be ready within the week, however I was not fussed in the slightest even if it took a good few weeks!
I was SOOOO impressed to see Sonnie and his team get STRAIGHT to work even before I had left the premesis!! We were still talking about options and what he and I had in mind etc etc, and his team had already started stripping down the front end! After a quick tutorial about how the vehicle works if they had to move it, I was on my way back home!
Regular updates, constant phone calls to inform me of problems, solutions, timescales etc etc was also marked as a 100% service in my book! A few times I couldnt get hold of him, however, he was sure to text or ring me back whenever he was free...unfortunately we cant all be free all day everyday!
So after about 3-4weeks of him having the vehicle due to having to redesign the brackets a good 2-3 times as HE wasnt happy with the layout and runnings of the belts...I finally got the vehicle back last night!
The brackets are TOP notch...properly industrial spec lol...could do with finishing them off (i.e painting them) but I will get round to that soon. There are a few teething problems, which are nothing to do with Sonnie's work, its the vehicles bushes are weak now so im getting some custom made poly bushes sorted in the next week or two.
We have tested the alts all the way upto 15.x volts so far and all is happily working away...I will sort out the few little issues with the vehicle and then crack on with putting the 16v system in!
If you require custom fab work for alts....Sonnie at Grove Auto Parts is THE man to speak to!!! Give him a shout and mention my name (Amar with the Previa) and he will look after you!
