Default scoobys that were imported a gl!

Hoping to get a scooby soon and been looking around, i have seen you can get models that have been imported in to the uk as gl model, but when there actualy a wrx, but has gld on the log book.

Where does the law stand on this, because i can insure one for next to nothing, would i be right in thinking that im not doing anything wrong because thats what the car is registered as?

Cheers

They may have been imported as a GL but I am 99% sure that they will still come up as 2 litre turbo when the plate is checked. So rather than being a Subaru Impreza WRX 2.0 Turbo it'll be a Subaru Impreza GL 2.0 Turbo. Thus offering no saving at all. Insurers aren't daft

all imports are gl or base models, so you dont have to pay as much import tax and that, my sti was and i know my mates RA is.

just watch out for the insurance on imports!!

totally wrong

the real reason there are imports from japan in the uk as gl's is because the dvla computer at the time would not recognise a wrx impreza and a sti impreza as they were not uk models and the dvla's computer only had the title marker gl available as that was what subaru uk imported officially.

so thats the real reason and i'd bet 10 million dollars on that
