mk3 mondeo "notchy" steering.
anyone know of any common issues with these.
got an 02 2.5 ghia- car is lovely but when starting the car with the car in the dead straight position it feels tight- as if the uj is siezed (but it isnt-had it off). it only happens on dead straight ahead position.seems to get less when driving the car for some time.
i changed the fluid yesterday as it was grey, but didnt seem to help.it has recently had new springs fitted.
im going to attempt to have a play later to check bottom ball joints, top mounts etc, track rod ends.
just wondering if anyone has come across this to save me some time ie -its a common steering rack issue.

both strut top mounts have broken up so thats the first port of call.
euro parts do a kit for both sides so shouldnt be too bad.
bottom ball joints not so clever so ill do them at same time.
it looks like someone has changed the coil springs recently-hope the springs are right ones!

genuine ford top mounts are only £12 a side, but you have to remove the strut and spring to change them which is a pain in the arse
when the springs go they put extra load on these are they invariably break up soon afterwards so they are well worth changing at the same time
there is another issue with the intermidiate shaft but i can't remember the fix, let me lok it up
