Default Mot testers

Any one an mot tester?

Bought a car from a garage for the mrs with 12months mot put on by them.
She has done 100 miles in it and the exhaust is blowing like fuck now!
Had a look underneath and where the centre piece joins the rear piece its rotten as fuck!

As an mot tester should this have failed?
Are visual inspections not valid on an exhaust?

Take it back, you have 6 MONTHS under the sale of goods act warranty on any part failing OTHER than wear items, unfortunately the exhaust IS a wear item, as well they wear out/rust away.
If you've just spent money with them, esp if a good amount they should be helpful if any good/honest.

I bought a car that was MOT'd the day before. The tester took the ABS bulb out and seemed to think that fixed the problem. Horn didnt work either.

I bought a van that was MOT'd 2 days previous. Both rear shocks were knackered.

Really....it seems anything will pass an MOT in England, especially when it comes to cars that are for sale.
