Chemical metal is usually the bollox but the surfaces have to be mega clean and roughed up with sandpaper for it to stick.
If you can get hold of it,q bond is the absolute bollox, you get a grey tub for metal and a black tub for plastic.the amount of stuff I repaired with it's unreal,it's not cheap,Ł15 a box but the glue is like nothing else, gives off a little reaction when you mix it which does hit the old chest a bit but it should be fine if you keep out of the path of the fumes!!!that stuff will probably last you a lifetime, the amount of headlights, bumpers, plastic engine components I fixed with it was incredible.

Should say about q bond,it's probably only in a bodywork/paint suppliers as its a tad specialist.
You get the two tubs in the kit,it doesn't look much but they last ages.

Is it a metal or plastic tank ? From my own experience for a metal tank that petrol patch stuff will work but you need the tank empty otherwise the stuff will not go off and harden. As said you need to key the surface so it sticks.
If plastic as a temporary measure I once cut a fuel can up and melted the pieces in place with a soldering iron. This was on a motocross tank after trying allsorts, tigerseal, fiberglass and anything else I could get my hands on.
Put a screw in it

Showing my age now but a long time ago I needed a petrol tank for a Cortina after filling it with fuel the first day I owned it,paying for the fuel and coming back to the car and seeing it dripping
.Sod buying a new one when I only give something like Ł200 for the car.On a Cortina all the crap that came up off the road used to sit on the top of the tank and they would rot above the seam.Off to the scrappy and the only solid tank I could find was one someone had stuck a screwdriver through.I still got it and ended up buying some petrol patch. Now I had used this before but with fuel in the tank and it didnt work(suprise suprise) .This time empty tank and I left it maybe 24hrs,results it was solid and no more leaks.Well not in the 6 month I owned it anyway.Still dosnt help you seeing as you need a magic fix overnight lol.

Good stuff but I fear petrol will eat that too.I have used that before though to make a inlet boot on a motorbike, well fuse two together.God I have bodged some stuff when I was younger lol.If it dont stink of petrol and there is not a visable dripping you may get away with,MAY.If its damp on the tank and obviously visable, retest time
