I'm sure the risk is pretty small. But I think if I'd forked out for a forged engine, it would always eat away at the back of my mind. If it was on a boggo RST lump I may not be so bothered as it could be replaced pretty cheaply, but if I'd sunk some wedge into something proper, I think I'd prefer to have the piece of mind!

i made new bearings for mine at home on the lathe out of quality certificated material from my work but then not everone has this facility lol and they are only 20 quid off of ebay
