Default castrol magnatec

just got 4ltrs of castrol magnatec 10w 40 semi synth in tesco for £15

was gonna put it in my s2 esc rs turbo

read a few mixed reviews so wanna see what you guys think
is it suitable?

I would be using fully synth in turbo engines. Semi synth is only mineral oil with additives and thus lasts no longer or gives the protection fully synth does.

agreed, an ester based fully synthetic will give better protection and extended service periods than a mineral/semi (mineral based)/fake synthetic (still mineral based).

that said its better than nothing but personally i'd be draining it out again in 3-5,000 miles max

Even a fully synthetic will not be as good as the oil was say 15 years ago, just use regular oil like you've bought, and add some ZDDP, vastly better protection then than any synthetic can give you, ZDDP has almost been eliminated, so better to put some back in Cam Very Hungry engines such as this.

I'd never use magnatec as any little bits of shite floating around in your engine with cling to stuff with the oil.
