Default Mondeo Boot Lock Help

Car is a 2001 mondeo.

The boot randomly opens itself sometimes when driving along and sometimes when you stop and open the door which is opening the locks.

What do you think is th issue? Is it the electronic handle/switch on the tailgate? It doesnt work at all but the boot pop button in the car and on the remote works fine.

Any help would be great.

Also noticed there is a key hole there too which i have never noticed before and had the car for 3 years The key in the lock doesnt work at all.

Prob never been used since the brand new and probably siezed.

Thanks

It'll deffo be the touch rubber button above the number plate.

This was happening with mine and I bought a new dash switch and tried all sorts. It would pop the boot as I approached a roundabout!

Simply unplug it.

Take the plastic cover off the inner boot lid (around 4-6 screws I think) and unclip it.

Reach in and it's on a plug, just unplug it.

Your dash button, key fob and the key hole will still all work.

Cheers. I will give that a go.

Did you change the switch or just leave it unplugged?

Did you ever try the key on it?

Just unplugged it mate. I tried taking it to bits and cleaning it up and oiled it etc. but the problem returned.

It's just 2 metal plates that touch when pressed and the water sits inside and corrodes them, follow the cable from it around 6-8 inches and you'll see the small plug, just pull it.

Yeah key work's fine, I've often had to use it when it's cold as the remote freezes.

I only noticed the key hole today lol. Didn't work mind you.

I'll unplug that thing and see how it gets on.

Might change switch if it's not an absolute rip off
