ok, i've taken apart my headlights to sort the adjusters out, so how do i know they are at the correct height now i've put them back in again?

if i do the old "test against the wall" routine then to get them adjusted again means stripping the headlight out to fiddle with the things inside

any tips?

it's on the mondeo, with xenons, and i don't want to go back to the dealer to get them reset again for the cheap price of £80

and it's got it's mot next week

ask the tester if he could adjust them for a bit of cash in hand as he is going to check them anyway with the beam checker

the xenons on the mondeo are supposed to be auto adjusting so that they level up with the weight of the car via some complicated electronics in the gem and a widget on the rear suspension, which needs resetting by the main stealers if you disconnect the battery

so in order to bypass this you can use the adjustment from a manually adjusting headlight where you simply rewire it

the problem is going to occour when both headlights have differently adjusted electrical adjustment if one is higher than the other or the car was taken apart with a full load or whatever, so how do we get to preset their adjustment on both adjusters before fitting htem to the headlights before fitting them to the car?
