i have a set of standard 16" mondeo 5 spoke alloys that need tyres. i have been in touch with 3 local companies as i'm only looking for budget or part worns (205/50r16) Nobody has any less than £42 a corner. and i'm skint/tight.

they did tell me they have 215/50r16 in stock. would they fit? or would they look a bit stupid.

not really big on tyres so any info would be great!

TBH mate, you dont want to be going bigger than the standard 205/50, there big enough to start with lol

im running 205 55 on my and its not as good as 205 50's

Can I suggest 195/50 instead? I run these as winter tyres on my ST24 and they're just fine. OK, so they're a tad narrower, but if you're buying budgets anyway you're hardly in need of vast reserves of grip. I've found this size seems to be more readily-available too, so you might get a better deal!

id stick to 205 50 mate.

I'd go on camskill and look around, you may well find a slight deviation in width, ratio would put it in a much more common size and thus cheaper, but £42 a corner sounds good anyway to me, assume that's fitted ?
