Default FAO of Fiddy or other v6 mondeo peeps

my st24 feels like its looses alot of power every now and again when i hit around the 4k mark an looks like it kicks a bit of smoke out and will stay like this until ive stopped driving and left it for an hour or so, it only happens bout once every few weeks but is startin to get more frequent, anyone have any ideas? before anyone says hg has been checked

edited to say does not carry on smoking just the 1 initial puff when it first happens

It sounds like your IMRC is playing up! It's the electronic box of tricks that opens up the 'secondary inlets' at around the 4k mark. It's under the black cover on the front of the engine and it gets hot, and stops working.

It's fairly straightforward to move it under the battery tray where it's a lot cooler, and won't suffer the same way.

top man dan, does only seem to happen when it gets warm, will it need replacing or just relocating?

as above, does sound like your IMRC is playing up. mine went all together last year, so i got another, and put it under the battery tray, as 99% of IMRC failure, is caused by the genius place ford put them, on top of a red hot rocker cover

Yup I do - perfect working order. They seem to go for around £50, but the little plastic clip on mine is cracked (can be swapped for yours easily enough) so only want £30 for it if you want it?

get it bough fella, thats dirt cheap. there not easy to get hold of these days, and like i said, ford want stupid money, im sure its £200+

mine came off a late 2001 ST200. when you have been driving without a working IMRC for a while, you forget how much difference they do make.

relocate it to the battery tray, and forget about it, because ive never heard of one failing once there on the battery tray.
