Fuck me: they should ban the Discovery channel!
Apperantly programs such as 'American chopper' seem to inspire the inadequate to 'customize' (read: vandalise) their bikes...
I recently bought a Buell as an unfinished project with a lot of very nice bits BUT also with a rather nasty surprise...
The wheels came of some sportsbike, I think a Fireblade, and they had been modified to run with a belt instead of chain...
Now the mod consist of a standard Buell Pulley wich had been machined down to approx. half it's original thickness on the centre of the pulley where it sits on the hub.
"Less is more" is what this bikeb uilder must have thought...inkeeping with that thought he had a stainless disc machined with the studpattern of the fireblade hub.
This was laid on top of the skimmed pulley and used as a template to drill new holes.
The result?
2 out of the 5 holes were bang in the middle of the pre-excisting holes in the pulley...wich were approx. 4 times the size of those holes drilled.
In other words: only three holes left to fit the hub.
Those three holes open up into the original holes of the pulley.
Can anyone guess what happens the very first time you pop the clutch????

I bought a scoob with some bbs wheels on a few years back over a few weeks the car started to shake and wobble. Once i took the wheels off i found they have been drilled to fit and the holes all over lapped the old holes and the nuts had moved to half in half out both sets of holes. Im just glad i didnt like the wheels and had bought some others to replace them.
