saff cossy value-help please
right mr x has got a neauvue? red k-reg 4x4 cosworth.
good points-
nice leather interior.
stacks of history.
near standard.
dump valve
full stainless
38k from new apparently however this is doubtful in my mind.
bad points-
rust scabs on back arches
rust scab on front nearside wing
lacuquer peeling on back quarter and near bonnet vents.
peppered with stone chips on the front
engine is louder than mine and mines done 98k
brakes seized on
been sat for 2years i think never been run.
needs a cambelt and oil leak from the rocker sorting because thats leaking on to the cambelt.
no tax or mot.
judging by the bodywork and how dirty the engine is i cant see it having done 38k from new,and it seems to have a loud tap from top end which could be tired followers? doesnt seem to be as quiet as mine anyway,he reckons the car has always been outside but cant see how the wing and arches and lacquer has peeled on 38k,i think its more 138k.
him and a couple of his mates think its a 4k plus car all day,i dont so want to see what the rest of the ford boys think.
he paid just over 5k for it but thats too low for a genuine 38k car isnt it?
he seems to think the bloke didnt know what he had or was so rich he wasnt bothered.
so opinions welcomed

maybe its led a very hard life, and not been looked after, its not beyond the realms of possibility i suppose, especially if its been left stood outside for years. but you would expect a car with that many miles (if genuine), if it had been looked after, to be the equivlent of a 3 - 4 year old car, as that would be the average condition/age of a car with 38k miles.

put it this way i think its a 2,5k car,i dont think it would break for much more than 3 fiddy cos its standard no nice parts except the exhaust, got a lad willing give him 3.5k for it which he said was fine yesterday then after talking to his mates all of whom havent owned a cossy and looking on ebay he come to the conclusion that he wants at least 4k for it,which has annoyed me cos ive basically sorted the sale and he messing around now.
would you say its done 38k boothy? cos i fucking wouldnt, unless its had a sadistic previous owner who only uised it in winter.

for some reason people seem to think there shitty rotten, smokey, rattley, oil leaking, hiddious to drive cossys are worth loads. i paid Ł3350 for this, & can honestly say it was then nicest cossy i have ever driven & the best (non concourse) sierra shell i have ever seen. sold it last week for 4.5k

he should have ripped the guys arm off for 3.5k

I know I can be proved wrong but one of these imo is always going to be at least a 2-2.5k car providing it starts/drives and doesn't sound like a tractor, especially to someone who doesn't know the car if you "get me drift".You can be honest or you can lie but it does take two to lie,one to lie and one to listen
.
It sounds like a shed for something thats supposed to of done 38k.On ebay the other day were some pretty good looking and spec Sapps at around 4kish with people not bidding and on the other hand a right snotter of a 2wd that looked shit bodywise and the last I saw it was getting towards 3k

it is gloss black, but was white from factory. previous owner had it reshelled onto a new shell mid 90's & painted black then. it was black everywhere (under roof lining/ behind dash etc) feeling a bit gutted i sold it now lol. looking for another
Dont think its a 38k car mate more like 138k
He needs the money and it moving on he can hang on for over 3k but doubt it will get near that money really, what he needs to realise is it needs money spending on it!!!!!

yeh dude i know but he a stubborn cunt when he wants to be he'll leave it to rot wont he,just put this thread up to prove a point that real ford enthuiasts wont give him 4k for it in the state its in.
don't forget its nearly 20 yrs old & if its never been loocked after & had yrs of been stood & neglected by others the rear arches are a commen rust problem areas even when people try & look after them
payed 6750 for mine november last year
66k never welded no rust full ford service history
on a h plate 4x4 full leather only faults were sagging front bumper and a split on one of the door cards

Milage is absolutly useless on older Fords, buy on condition 100%... As for the car in question, 2.5k max IMHO, chances are it will be rotton a pear in the rear chassis rails anyway!
