When is a vertical flow needed?

surely a 'vertical flow' cooler is just a standard one rotated through 90 degs and possible different geometry. More bars + shorter bars =less pressure drop* Gravity adds nothing lol

*same would be true for a tall+thin horizontal unit as for a short/wide vertical.

It is purely for ease of plumbing which way it flows, like a GT5 turbo or RS turbo vs a cossie intercooler set up.

in a vertical one, all the oil from your smokey old turbo drains out of the core keeping it efficient
