the raceteam that i used to work for had a ow 01,nice bike at the time.
later progressed to the honda rc45 and then in 99 got the ow 02 (R7) beautifull bike.
the team owner still have the R7 and the rc45 but the ow01 ended its days at anderstorp(swedish track)

Theres grey imports and parallel imports, mostly from Japan brand new.
The parallel were brought in by dealers in addition to the factory allocation, and the greys were brought in by independent dealers with no dealer support (or warranty in many cases) for the simple reason that either the main dealers had run out of stock or they were just cheaper!
Thats the reason theres gsxr and vfr400's everywhere
Thats my understanding of it anyway, most of the grey imports were different to UK spec too, and mostly restricted and with kph clocks

I would say that dealers would have been screaming to get them
plus there cant be a lower spec item again they were a limited run and all the same
I could be wrong but would think most of the 500 should be ok

Theres a big write up on them and the RC30 in Classic Motorcycle Mechanics june last year, I've got it somewhere if you want a copy of the article. There a guy who breaks them (sound familiar? ) who seems to know the whereabouts of loads of them!
I mat be wrong, but i'm sure i also read of some of the factory bikes being registered for the road too, that would bump the numbers up a bit. Still not loads though. Might have exaggerated that a bit
*edit* just glanced at he article now, and a fella called Peter Day is the man to speak to if you want a good 'un!

Most big name specials fetch silly money, some are fantastic bikes that I would love to own, but I already have my dream bike, so I'm happy for the moment! I have a Ducati 996, which I think will rise in value in the future..
Bikes I would love:
RC 30
RC 45
Ducati 888
Ducati 748R
Original fireblade round headlights in blue/red/white
next gen 'blade in urban tiger
Kawasaki zxr 750RR
Norton Rotary
Aprillia Rs 250
Suzuki Rgv 250
Plus loads more!

unmolested " urban tiger " blades will always hold there value , as there were ultra rare and very desired as the paintscheme was lush ,
paul , owo2 - r7 would be worth a pun , silly money when new , and made in low numbers
zx7 rrs , even low miler gsx efe katana's are becoming ultra sought after now fella

Im not a fan of modern looking bikes ( they all look the same )
I have a GSXR 750 mate , H plate and can only be described as TOTALY MINT condition
I fancy a FZR before the get to expensive and came across the ow01 , hence this post
I seem to be getting into the bikes more than cars these days

NR750 was real cutting edge stuff at the time, 8 valves per cylinder with oval pistons.
