Default Quick release bosses.

I need a boss at somepoint for the kitcar. I want a flanged type rather than anything which requires welding the steering column

What i need to know is what is best, the hex type, ball type or splines? Any brands people would recommend?

Is the 6 bolt pattern they seem to use a standard size?

What do people use and how do they rate them?

My big worry is play between wheel and column if anything gets slack at all, or, to a lesser extent the thing breaking. it will have to come off every time someone gets in or out of the car. There seems to he a huge variety in price and Im not sure if its a brand thing or a quality thing. I dont want to spend nigh on £200 if I dont have to but I also dont want to be replacing a cheaper one due to slop or worse a failure down the line

This looks interesting:

Most of the cheap ones are weld on and an american 3 bolt fixing and by the time you buy to converter to 6 bolt are just as expensive as the proper item.

Not sure Id be so keen on this style:

The other thing to consider is having wiring for some buttons on the steering wheel is always a nice option!

Cheers

Why are you not keen on welding to the steering column?

Do you already have a steering wheel?

I have one like the bottom one you posted, it was welded to the steering column. Getting a steering wheel to suit is not a problem as you can buy blank wheels and drill the holes yourself, SPA do a nice blank 270mm black suede wheel.

Edited to say mines a Wilwood

one because I need to pass an IVA and welding steering components causes questions.

two because I want to use it on a different car with the same wheel and steering column splines for a while so a bolted one is easy to transfer.

How do you centre the holes when drilling them yourself?

Cheers

Buy the Lifeline one, the 'cheap' ones are exactly that.

Awesome quality and most Time Attack cars runs them
